After successfully defeating a sound recording ordinance, which would have jeopardized the future growth of all sound recording including film, TV and video games, we now shift our sights to the state capitol. Georgia Music Partners and The Recording Academy®, Atlanta Chapter are extremely proud to have led the effort to unite the diverse music industry including hip hop, country, rock, Christian, classical musicians, songwriters, artists managers, music educators, and most importantly students from our area schools. The Atlanta City Council voted to not move forward with the Atlanta Sound Studio Ordinance!
Atlanta has been at the forefront across every genre since country music originated here in the 1930’s. Georgia Music Partners is committed to keeping the industry in our state strong and growing. We are thrilled the Atlanta City Council overwhelmingly overturned the ordinance. We look forward to working with them as we develop opportunities to attract new businesses to the city.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:30 AM in the Rotunda of the Georgia State Capitol for “Georgia Music Day”. “Georgia Music Day” is your opportunity to be a part of the collective voice of music as we address our lawmakers on the key issues needed to expand and grow the music industry in Georgia. Our board and members have been instrumental in working with both the State House of Representatives and the Senate to outline legislation incentivizing music production for both live music and song production/recording.
