The 2016 Grammys bring a plethora of Georgia born talent, whether they are an artist or music professional as an engineer or producer. The upcoming awards list of nominees from Georgia reflects the variety of musical talent across the state. The 2016 Grammys nominees consist of 22 talented artists and music professionals that are affiliated with the state.

This year, Christian rock band, Third Day (including member Tai Anderson), which was formed in Marietta, was nominated in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song category for their chart topping hit “Soul On Fire.” Along with Third Day, Sam Hunt and members of Little Big Town, Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild, are on the list of nominees. Tai said, “It’s always an honor to receive acknowledgement in the form of a Grammy nomination. Whenever I contribute to songwriting, I try to think about resonance with listeners. To find that work is acknowledged by industry peers is truly humbling.”
Cities all over Georgia have had several skilled artists that have been recognized throughout the years in the music industry. Georgia has served the state with a diverse roster of musicians and composers. Artists including: Alan Jackson, The Allman Brothers, Janelle Monae, Usher, Sugarland, Kristian Bush, The Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, The B-52’s, James Brown, Cole Swindell, India Arie all represent the natural born talent coming from Georgia.
Nominated for “Best Historical Album”, Michael Graves (Mastering Engineer) said, “It’s such an honor to be nominated and so gratifying that our project is being recognized. Everyone involved put their heart into telling the story of the men at Parchman Farm who against all odds managed to make this music”.
According to a recent study by IFPI, “A vibrant music economy drives value for cities in several important ways: job creation, economic growth, tourism development, city brand building and artistic growth.” It has been proven to attract other industrial investment along with talented young professionals no matter their industry.
