Happy Holiday Season, music lovers!
We’ve been focused on our prep work for the 2020 legislative season, when hope to get House Bill 347 to pass and harmonize the music tax credit mechanics with film’s. We’re also in the midst of our Fulton County project, working with Sound Diplomacy to study the music economy impact in the county. We will share more details on these projects in the next few weeks. There are several additional matters I wanted to bring to your attention today:
Expanding our Board: We have been expanding our Board of Directors to ensure representation from many silos of our industry, as well as add talent that expands our organization’s capabilities. In upcoming weeks, we plan to publish a series on our blog that will introduce you to each of our Board Members.
Membership is free: We encourage you to join our advocacy work to better the music industry in Georgia and grow music job opportunities in our great state. You can join us on our website, or by attending a GMP meetup event, or participating in a GMP survey (there is a big one coming in the next few months). No membership dues are required from individuals, although we hope you will choose to donate to our efforts. As a reminder, we are all volunteers and your donations help us cover operations, marketing, and advocacy costs with third parties.
New MeetUps: We have a new Membership Outreach committee organizing frequent meetings and programming content for those meetings. We are curating speakers and panelists with meaningful information and expertise to share and we hope that you can join us at these events. Be on the lookout for announcements on our web site, in social, and via emails.
Enjoy the Holiday Season and we look forward to seeing you soon!
