Mission Statement – Georgia Music Partners promotes the business of music and related music technology in the state of Georgia through the development of a supporting workforce and applicable educational opportunities.
We believe that Georgia’s music industry is among the largest and most diverse in the nation. In the past 20 years, we have experienced unprecedented growth. Our unique music community is an amazing one.
According to the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, the estimated economic impact of the music industry in Georgia is approaching $2 billion annually. An earlier study developed by Georgia State University credited the industry with creating 11,000 jobs and generating $54.3 million in tax revenues.
Atlanta is a creative hotbed of artists, writers and producers. The city is the global center for urban music – averaging six weekly positions in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. In 2009, Georgia artists, writers, producers and engineers earned 69 GRAMMY® nominations and honored winners in 15 categories. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra alone has collected an outstanding 26 GRAMMY® Awards.
The list of talent with ties to Georgia is numerous – and genre-spanning. Outkast, Zac Brown Band, Usher, Sugarland, Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Lil Jon, The B-52s, The Black Crowes, Akon, Collective Soul, Indigo Girls, Trisha Yearwood, Ne Yo, Lady Antebellum, Alan Jackson, the Allman Brothers, Elton John, James Brown, and R.E.M. are just some of the artists from the Peach State. Those artists know well the state’s low cost of living, ease of transportation (thanks to the U.S.’s busiest airport, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson) and Atlanta’s world-class dining, entertainment and sports opportunities.
