Georgia Music Partners would like to thank Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan for recognizing the need and importance of appointing the Senate Music Workforce Development Study Committee. Chairing the committee is long time music supporter and advocate, Jeff Mullis (Chickamauga), as well as past music committee members President Pro Tempore, Butch Miller (Gainesville) and Senator Tyler Harper (Ocilla) as well as Senator Freddie Powell Sims (Dawson), Senator David Lucas (Macon) and Senator Bill Cowsert (Athens).
The committee has met three times and heard from a variety of music industry professionals such as Joel Katz, one of the most well known entertainment attorneys in the world as well as Georgia based Grammy awards winning artists Lecrae and Kristian Bush, the Rolling Stones’ Chuck Leavell and Colt Ford.
The Senate Study Committee on Music Workforce Development has been meeting this fall to look for ways to leverage Georgia’s rich musical heritage into building a thriving music industry in the Peach State modeled after the success of the film industry here. Click on the links to view the meetings:
