ATLANTA: Georgia Music Partners (GMP) announced today the appointment of several new Directors to its Board, which now boasts eighteen music industry professionals. The growth of the board from six Executive Directors just a handful of years ago to this year’s talent was driven in part by the need to support the breathe of advocacy activities the organization is a part of, and in part by leadership’s objective of diversifying the expertise represented in order to echo the rich tapestry of the state’s current music business.
“We’re delighted to be able to draw such a strong and diverse local talent to our all-volunteer organization,” said Shachar Oren, President of GMP. “Our growth positions us well for the upcoming year, which opened with our advocacy work for HB-347 and will include several additional expansions of our advocacy work and volunteerism for Georgia’s music industry.”
The new appointees to the Georgia Music Partners Board of Directors include: GMP Secretary Aneesah Bray (C3, GPP); GMP Treasurer Roshanda Naulls (Aprio); GMP Controller Tate Henshaw (Polay & Clark); Isaac Hayes III (Isaac Hayes Enterprises); Phillana Williams (Mayor’s Office of Film & Entertainment, City of Atlanta); Kendall Minter (Taylor English Duma LLP); Bernie Lawrence-Watkins (B. Lawrence Watkins & Associates, PC); Ian Schumacher (singer/songwriter/producer); Judiffier Pearson (Clayton State University’s College of Business); Elliston “GENIUS” Clarke (RARE Sound); DiAndria Green (Bennett Thrasher); Randie Brooks (City National Bank), and David Barbe (UGA).
As part of its advocacy activities, GMP produces monthly members meetups with programming focused on revenue generation. The last meeting took place at Pandora’s Atlanta offices and focused on “The DJ Experience” with panelists DJ Brooklyn, Trendsetter Sense, and DJ Marc B. The next members meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at noon at GSU CMII, and will focus on “The Latest Trends in Music Publishing.” For a full list of eighteen board members and upcoming monthly mixers visit: www.georgiamusicpartners.org and Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/gamusicpartners/.
