Georgia Music Partners (GMP), the advocacy arm of The Recording Academy® Atlanta Chapter named Shachar Oren as an advisor to the executive committee of GMP. Oren serves as President and CEO of Neurotic Media, a company that helps brands drive consumer behavior with digital music on a business-to-business basis. GMP advocates the promotion of music in business and related music technology in the state of Georgia.

“Oren’s vast experience and understanding of music technology make him a considerable addition to our team,” said Tammy Hurt, president of GMP and Placement Music. “We look forward to having his insights to help guide GMP in the upcoming year.”

As founder and CEO of Neurotic Media, Shachar Oren has been responsible for business strategy, product, sales and marketing, and financial administration of the company. Based in Atlanta, Neurotic Media empowers businesses to create custom white-label storefronts and services to promote their own branded digital content – so that their consumers can download or stream digital media anywhere, across multiple platforms and devices. The company’s customers include consumer brands, mobile carriers, retailers and record companies. Its licensed catalog includes all major labels and a growing list of indie labels in both the US and Canada. “I am excited to join the GMP team,” commented Oren. “I believe in the GMP charter and look forward to helping GMP drive tangible results for our membership and for Georgia’s music industry.”

After receiving his bachelor of science in music industry and music production from Georgia State University, and spending five years on the air at WRAS 88.5 (PD 95), Oren went on to work at Ichiban Records and to operate his indie label Shoestring Records. In the early days of the dot com era, Oren served as senior VP of business development at Atlanta-based Amplified Holdings, which became the first business-to-business digital distribution company in the world. While at Amplified, he oversaw customer signings with distinguished companies such as Tower Records, Transworld and Wherehouse Music, and went on to manage international joint ventures for the company. Oren next founded Neurotic Media in 2001 and grew it into a prominent force in today’s digital business-to-business distribution space.

Oren co-Chairs the Supply Chain Committee at the Music Business Association (previously NARM), and is an active member and frequent panelist and speaker at several trade associations including NARAS, AMA Atlanta, CCA, Music Business Association, eMarketing Association and TAG.
